Language Learning and Academic Performance in Texas Schools

Hello, and Welcome!

My name is Esat and I am a Senior at Harvard studying History and Economics. I am currently enrolled in HIST 1993: Introduction to Digital History, taught by Gabriel Pizzorno, and this is my project.

In this website, you will find data and information on Texas Public Schools from the year 2019. My motivation for this project was to explore how non-native English Speakers who attend Texas Public Schools perform on standardized exams.

The majority of the already existing scholarship covers how native-English Speakers who are exposed to a non-native language perform on standardized exams. Therefore, there is a huge gap in our current understanding of standardized exam performance of non-native English Speakers.

I worked to create a foundation for which further work can be built upon.
